Starting a Photography Business 4

Published by ledwellarts at 1:35 am under Photography Edit This

This is the final part of starting a photography business. The four posts are simple and not too detailed because more detailed information on subjects will follow in other posts.

Printing photos is also a very important subject to study when you are planning on opening your own business. You can always offer CDs of the photos to your customers however not everyone is capable of printing their own photos or has a computer at home. Any good photography has to know a few things about printing photos. LOP means Life Of Photo, meaning how long the photo will last without fading. Most customers who know about photography will want to know how long their photo will last before it begins to fade, and most of the paper and printers on the market are not professional grade and do not have a good LOP rating. Some of the printers on today’s market print photos that will be lucky to last for 5 years. It is a big investment to buy a worthy printer that will print high quality photos however; knowing that the photos are professional grade makes it easy for you to relax when a customer asks how long their photos will last and know that you will be able to answer them with an answer that you will like. You will also need to check prices that it will cost you to print larger photos that you can’t print on a home printer and be sure that the printing studio you use isn’t too expensive and has a good quality rating.

Running a business is not something that happens overnight and knowing how to take a photo does not mean you will be good at running a photography business. With today’s economy as fragile as it is, you need to have every advantage and head start when starting a business that is possible to have. This is not to discourage anyone, just to make you think twice about something before jumping head over heels into something that you don’t know that much about. Most community colleges and all art colleges offer photography classes and it is very easy to take Photoshop classes online. Knowing more about the business that you are trying to run is always a plus and shows that you truly are a professional. You can’t be a chef just because you know how to cook one good dish, and you cant be a photography just because you’ve taken a couple of good photos.
